"For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

*succor - origin: Middle English, via Old French from medieval Latin succurus, from Latin succurrere 'run to the help of'. (New Oxford American Dictionary) Christ wants to "run to help us".
