Scriptures of the month - September 2010

From the Bible: “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world; he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

From the Book of Mormon: “And he said unto the children of men: Follow thou me. Wherefore...can we follow Jesus save we shall be willing to keep the commandments of the Father?” (2 Nephi 31:10)

Hymn:    

“Come follow me,” the Savior said. 

Then let us in His footsteps tread,

For thus alone can we be one, 

With God’s own loved, begotten Son.

Is it enough alone to know, 

That we must follow Him below,

While traveling through this vail of tears?

No, this extends to holier spheres.

We must the onward path pursue,

As wider fields expand to view,

And follow Him unceasingly,

Whate’er our lot or sphere may be.

For thrones, dominions, kingdoms, pow’rs,

And glory great and bliss are ours,

If we throughout eternity,

Obey his words, “Come follow me.”
